OpenAI’s featured product ChatGPT is all the rage on the internet. The AI-advanced chatbot is designed to interact in an interactive and conversational way. The model ensues a dialogue format and effectively answers questions, frequently asked questions (FAQs), asks follow-up questions, and much more.
Google has launched a similar AI technology called Bard powered by LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications). The latter was launched two years ago by Google with similar language and conversational capabilities. In the coming weeks, Bard will be widely available for the public to use and seek abundant knowledge. Regarding the new launch, Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai explains:
“Bard seeks to combine the breadth of the world’s knowledge with the power, intelligence and creativity of our large language models. It draws on information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality responses.”

However, for now, Google is going to launch a lighter version of their previous model LaMDA. This will ensue less computing power and enable external feedback from users. Google will then combine responses with their internal testing and ensure Bard meets users’ expectations of quality, safety and logical circumspect effectively. Google through Bard, is planning to create new pathways to engage information be it through language, audio, or video. AI advancements like Bard will easily convert information into useful knowledge. Learning about new topics will be easier as Bard will convert complex information into multiple perspectives construed in layman’s language for better understanding.
As of now, ChatGPT is widely being used to write emails, crack and develop codes, process tasks, translations, text summaries, and much more. Many university students are using this AI technology for their assignments and exam preparation as well. ChatGPT has been trained to produce “human-like text” but people are now questioning its capabilities on ethical grounds. Not only this, but the language-based AI model is limited to happenings till 2021. Whereas, Bard will use readily available sources on the internet and provide better-disseminating knowledge. The latter will also have an edge on Microsoft’s ChatGPT by being integrated with Google’s search engine.
