Metaverse, formerly known as Facebook, suffered a huge loss on Thursday. The company’s stock took a nosedive, wiping out more than $200 billion, which culminated to a whopping 26%. 

Zuckerberg on this dismal performance blames TikTok and has further warned about slow growth and earnings in the future. 

The company’s performance was deemed abysmal by Wall Street claiming this to be the biggest single-day drop in the financial market. The report states that the company faces immense competition from TikTok. This is true as users flock towards the short video content creator app. Also, TikTok’s ad shares have quadrupled which has impacted not only Facebook but other applications under Meta’s umbrella.

Bloomberg reports that Mark Zuckerberg, whilst addressing his staff, stated that the company faces ‘unprecedented’ levels of competition from TikTok. However, this plummeting dip in the earnings was predicted. When TikTok rose to fame, Zuckerberg immediately started to work on a similar concept called ‘Reels’ on Instagram. The clone feature did get popular but even then TikTok ensued immense competition. 

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Further condoning the performance, Facebook’s last quarter earnings showcased losing one million active users. Not only this, but the metaverse has lost a whopping $10billion on investments as well. Meta has already lost almost $240 billion valuations on Thursday. This loss has become the biggest wipeout ever seen in stock market history.

During K2 Winter Expedition 2021, five mountaineers lost their lives including Ali Sadpara. Ali has successfully hosted the Pakistan flag on the eight highest peaks of the world out of 14. He was a man of grit and determination and was a great patriot. Ali started his career as a high-altitude porter and help mountaineers to climb. His passion to climb and raise Pakistan’s flag on the tallest peaks of the world made him a successful mountaineer. He was truly the warrior of mountains.

Sajid Sadpara, son of Ali Sadpara was also with his father but he returned back due to malfunctioning in his oxygen equipment. Sajid said in a press conference that he will follow the footsteps of his father and will continue to climb the peaks. Pakistan Army has conducted the historic search operation for the missing three mountaineers till today. As he and his two companions were gone missing at the dangerous point of the Killer Mountain the search operation was very difficult. Experts from Pakistan Army experienced climbers, and weather experts have concluded that human beings cannot survive in such harsh conditions for so long.

Ali Sadpara is the pride of Pakistan and his journey will inspire the young mountaineers to climb and raise Pakistan’s flag on the tallest peaks. His dream of hosting Pakistan’s flag on the 14 highest peaks of the world and climbing the K2 in winter will be fulfilled by young climbers inspired by Muhammad Ali Sadpara!

Arfa Karim the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)

Talk about the youngest Microsoft geniuses is incomplete without remembering Arfa Karim. The 9th death anniversary of Computer Prodigy Arfa Karim, the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) is being observed today.  She passed away on 14 January 2012 following a cardiac arrest. Pfizer COVID Vaccine

This announcement was ahead of a Thursday meeting of whether to grant the vaccine an emergency use authorization (EUA) or not. Earlier On Dec 2, 2020 Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in the U.K. has granted a temporary authorization for the emergency use of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine, against COVID-19. Pregnant women and under-16s were not included in the studied, and so the vaccine will not yet be approved for these groups.

BioNTech partnered with Pfizer

In March 2020, the German company BioNTech partnered with Pfizer to develop and test a coronavirus vaccine known as BNT162b2. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine requires two injections, given 21 days apart, to prime the immune system well enough to fight off the coronavirus. As Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine is mRNA vaccine, it generates proteins in the living cells which are the spike proteins and are sensitive to immune cells and the body to develop immunity. As the vaccine is new, researchers don’t know how long its protection might last.

According to The New York Times, in January 2020 BioNTech begins work on a vaccine after Dr. Ugur Sahin, one of the company’s founders, becomes convinced that the coronavirus will spread from China into a pandemic. Preliminary data indicates the Pfizer vaccine is over 90 percent effective, with no serious side effects. Final data from the trial shows the efficacy rate is 95 percent. Margaret Keenan and William Shakespeare are among the first people to receive jabs of the vaccine in Britain. According to BBC Ms. Keenan said

“My aidvce to anyone offered the vaccine is to take it. If I can have it at 90, then you can have it too!”

This is great news and development in the healthcare industry and hopefully, Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine will end this pandemic in near future!
